Manage Templates and Instances
You can create, import, edit, and delete templates and instances using the SourceConnect Management Console. A template acts as a blueprint for creating source systems.
For the current release, templates are available for the following source systems:
- Oracle E-Business Suite
- JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
- Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations
- Dynamics 365 Business Central (on-premises and cloud)
- Oracle PeopleSoft
- Microsoft Dynamics AX
- Microsoft Dynamics NAV
- SAP ECC
- Universal Connector/Flat file (UC)
To import stage template
- Select the second icon on the left primary bar. The Templates option opens.
- As there are no stage templates available, import a new template by selecting the Import button at the right-hand corner of the screen. The templates for the current version are placed in the \Master Data Replication 8.0\SourceConnect 8.0 Management Console\Templates\.
- A drawer navigator opens with an option to select a custom
.scfile to import. You can select Source or Stage from the dropdown. On a successful upload, select the Import button for the process to start. - As the import takes place, notifications are displayed. Until the import is complete, the option to perform the same action multiple times is disabled.
- On a successful import, you can view the imported template details as the page is refreshed.
- Select Cancel or click anywhere outside the drawer navigator to close it.
You can view the following template details:
- Module
- Name
- Version
- Description
- Source System
- Actions menu that allows you to:
- Create Staging Area / Create Data Source
- Export
- Delete
View Template Contents
Use the View Contents option to view object definitions and download ETL definitions.
- Select Actions > View Contents. The Template Contents window opens. You can select various versions and read the object definitions.
- Select ETL to download the ETL definitions.
Export Template
Use the Export option to export and customize a template for use during an upgrade. For example, this option can be used to migrate an instance from one environment to another.
- Select Export. The drawer navigator Export Source Template opens.
- Enter the File Name, select the Version that must be exported, and select Export. The exported template
.scfile is downloaded in the browser.
Note: Modifications to the exported template are not supported.
Delete Template
Use the Delete option to delete the template. Select Delete to confirm deletion. If confirmed, the template is deleted otherwise the action is canceled.
Important: You must remember that deleting a template will delete the corresponding instance too. On deleting an instance, the corresponding metadata is also deleted and cannot be restored..
